Los Angeles, CA – July 19, 2006 – El Clasificado, the nation’s largest free weekly Spanish-language publication, will present on July 30th its first Quinceanera.com Expo and Fashion Show, which will focus exclusively on the glorious celebration and cherished tradition that honors a Latina girl’s fifteenth birthday.
The purpose of the Quinceanera.com event is to showcase for young girls and their families who plan to celebrate their Quinceañera various products and services essential for that special occasion, which is a deeply rooted tradition among Hispanic families. There will also be a fashion show featuring future Quinceañeras and their moms in order for guests to observe the latest dress, hairstyle and make up trends.
The expo’s slogan, “Quinceañera: quince años, quince más ¿hasta dónde llegarás?” (which literally means 15 years, 15 more, how far will you go?) captures El Clasificado’s goal of motivating young girls to think about their futures and to begin planning for college. As an incentive, El Clasificado is also sponsoring an essay contest in which the winner will receive a $5,000 college scholarship. The money must be used solely to cover college entrance and preparation expenses as well as expenses incurred throughout their four-year stay at a college/university.
“We are aware that the Quinceañera celebration is important for Hispanic families, but we also know that in order to be successful in life, it is crucial to plan on attending college,” declared Martha de la Torre, founder and president of El Clasificado. “We hope that this scholarship serves as an incentive among Southern California’s Hispanic Community for parents to prepare for their children’s post-secondary education, which is so important for their professional success, as much as they do for their children’s traditional celebrations,” declared El Clasificado’s CEO.
“Quinceañera: quince años, quince más ¿hasta dónde llegarás?” coincides with the launch of Quinceanera.com, an interactive website on which users have the opportunity to learn about the services and materials they will need for the fifteenth birthday celebration. What’s more, Quinceanera.com promises to be a portal where one can find interesting articles pertaining to this celebration, as well as additional information about education and scholarships.
The Quinceanera.com Expo and Fashion Show will take place at the Industry Hills Expo Center, 16200 Temple Avenue, City of Industry, CA 91744 on Sunday July 30th from 1pm – 6pm. The event is free to attend and is open to the public.
