The Spanish language media company won the Southern Region Business of the Year Award for 2022 by the CHCC.
(Los Angeles – Aug. 26, 2022) — El Clasificado, the Spanish language weekly community publication and multimedia marketplace, was distinguished with the Southern Region Business Award at the annual California Hispanic Chambers of Commerce, recently held in Oakland. This honor recognizes a Hispanic small business in the Southern Region that makes significant contributions to the advancement of Latino communities.
Martha de la Torre, El Clasificado’s co-founder and CEO, received the award on behalf of El Clasificado and its employees at the 43rd CHCC Annual Statewide Convention in Oakland, California.
In her acceptance speech, Martha shared the story of El Clasificado and how she was inspired to launch a Spanish language publication that would help immigrants like her parents survive and thrive in their new adopted country. Martha‘s father recently passed away and she dedicated the award to her parents, Elvia and Bolivar de la Torre, who both helped produce, write, publish and distribute the original weekly publication.
Torres Stallings, a law office from Bakersfield, won the Central Region Business Award of the Year, and Lina Mills, from Creative Ideas Catering, was the recipient of the Northern Region Business Award of the Year. The Inland Empire Region Business Award of the Year was awarded to a brewery from Lancaster, CA, Bravery Brewing Co. owned by Bart, Sandra and Brian Avery. Anna Sauceda was distinguished with the Latina Empresaria Hall of Fame and Marbeya Ellis won the Rising Star Empresaria award.
Vice Chairman of the Board, Veronica Corona states, “These awards are a source of inspiration for young entrepreneurs that come to our annual convention. Stories of success like Martha de la Torre influence our younger generations of Latinos”.
